Material Information
Tinplate is steel electroplated with a layer of tin. Before the plate is put into the machine the different colours, patterns and textures are added to the face of the plate. The flat plate is then formed using a stamping or seaming machine. This allows for the packaging design to be created to specific measurements.
Leather, found as the straps on top of the packaging
Soft Silk Internal Material with London landmarks
Recycling
Tinplate packaging is one of the most environmentally friendly of all due to it being able to be returned to the production cycle without loss of quality and used again. With the whole packaging made of one material, it can be easily recycled. The packaging also has leather additions on the top but this can be easily detached from the packaging due to being added with button rivets meaning a non-permanent bond. The straps can be taken apart by popping off one side of the rivet. Resulting in both materials being separated allowing for them to be recycled.
